more details on my constant error

Have you installed all the latest patches from Windows Update, especially SP1 (service pack 1)? This problem happens to me too but very rarely. When it happens you can do a CTRL-SHIFT-ESC to get the Windows Task Manager, then click on File, "New Task (Run...)", and type in explorer. If the Windows Explorer comes up and the taskbar is still gone, that means there's something running that's stuck. Usually I find that it's acrobat.exe or iexplore.exe. So what you do here is look at the Processes tab of Task Manager, click on Image Name to sort the processes that are running. Then proceed to end the suspect processes like the ones I mentioned above by right-clicking on them and selecting "End Process".

(see help needed with error posted by me) I am running Windows XP home version on my pc. I cannot pinpoint exactly when the error occured. I've run Norton AntiVirus which was last updated about 4 months ago, I've run adaware, and I cleaned the C and D drives from the control panel. These did not get me anywhere it seems(I didn't expect them to). After analyzing, my pc does not need defragmenting. Here are some (if not all) of the things I downloaded or installed before or when the error came about (before it really got on my nerves): I copied some backgrounds from a fansite of Taito video games(those have been deleted). I installed a software called DVD Ripper that I uninstalled soon after(it didn't do what I needed it to) and I installed Roxio Easy CD and DVD Creator. I unistalled Roxio after the error just in case it was that. Well, that's all pretty much. Thanks
