IDE to SATA adapters

CoolComputing Forum » Hardware Questions

Yeah I don't think it's a good idea- first you have to pay for the adaptors and 2nd you are losing valuable SATA ports which are better used for hard drives. If you're concerned about cable size try getting those round IDE cables- I use them and they work pretty well in terms of bettering the airflow and creating less clutter.

I have a new Maxtor SATA hard drive. I’m thinking about getting IDE to SATA adapters for my DVD drives. This brings me to my question: Are IDE to SATA adapters worthwhile? I would like to get rid of all the IDE cables in the system. But I'm concerned that these adapters would limit performance, or cause instability on my DVD drives. What do you think? Smile
