HELP...on SB installing over Win_me
CoolComputing Forum » Hardware QuestionsThanks for your feed-back David.
Just for the sake of information to other/s eventual visitors of your gratious site:
I learned, meanwhile, that the installation CD programme, provided by Creative, is according
to M$.comWinMesupport NOT compatible with Win_Me (although the said CD provides a file of drives claimed as 'suitable' for both W2K and Wme !!!).
More: Soundbaster.comsupportdownloads
produces an instalation software (updated!, so they imply) for SB Live to W2k and Wme... All you have to do is download 5 packages of 5 MB each one and then try again -- if your
system still bears the procedure.
How about that for a consumer attentive company -- as they claim to be?!
So,BEWARE Win_Me/W2k users: SB Live is NOT
for you, once it is ready to trash down your whole system. If you try it, brace yourself and be prepared for: A:format C: /v.

HN
Wow- pretty nasty error there Henri. What is your system configuration again? So does this mean Windows can't even finish booting at all (i.e. everytime it detects the card it crashes, and then you reboot, and it re-detects the card and crashes again)? If so try pulling out the cards out of your system one by one (modem, scsi, etc) except the video card and the boot again. This way you might be able to tell which card might be conflicting with the SB Live. E.g. if you pull out the modem and now it works then you know the modem is having problems with the SB Live. If that doesn't work it could mean that the SB Live is bad.

Hi David.
Once more with feeling (wrath!) because of a substitution instalation (SBpci128 out -> SB
Live in). My actual OS: the marvellous! media
prone Win_Me. Everything looked smooth until recognition of "PCI input controller" (WDM ?), then crash! Msg: Error: 0E: 0028: C78AED82 or, after insisting : C88DEFA0 or C8A8A790.
Re-installed OS - when finnalizing and updating
settings another "blue wall", crash, msg:
0E:0028: D62907A0 and some mumjumbo about 'emu' and VMM and VXDs and the like if
you follow my drift (I do'nt!).
And I'm stuck within a vicious circle of procedures, crashes and msgs of Error.
PLEASE advise what to do.
Once more: Thank you so much.
