Articles: Metro Delivery Scam
Posted by: david on 06/20/2011 - 01:35 PM
I recently received a door tag outside my home. At the bottom it said: Metro Delivery
Quick, Secure, Reliable
The top of the door tag looked like this:
Date: 6/17
To: _____
Sorry We Missed You.
Please call to reschedule.
San Antonio Metro:
210.515.5276
Austin Metro:
512.942.6211
Confirmation # _____
It was odd because I was home the entire day, but no one had rang the door bell. I buy a lot online so I thought it's one of the packages somehow. So I called the # to try to get tracking information from this Metro Delivery company. No one answered so I left a message. Someone from (480)388-3659 called back after the weekend and said that my home owner's association had a large package to deliver to me with over a thousand dollar worth of coupons (right there I said to myself, sh*t, I've been had!). They've ran out of the coupons and she asked do I want to receive via email (I thought YEAH- right) or regular mail. And asked if I needed any security services or water services.
After the phone call I felt like I did when I was a teenager responding to those "You have won a million dollars!" offers in the mail.
It's SAD that there is a company out there that resorts to lying/tricking consumers like this in order to try to get your information to sell to others- undoubtedly adding more SPAM to your life. It's a scam and I hope you don't fall for it like I did.
