Frequently Asked Questions

Why didn't two words rhyme when they sound similar?

RhymeRally uses a sophisticated rhyme detection system based on pronunciation patterns. Words rhyme when they share the same vowel sound in the stressed syllable and all sounds that follow it. Sometimes words might sound similar but don't follow standard rhyming rules. For example, "love" and "move" look like they might rhyme, but they have different vowel sounds in English pronunciation.

How are points calculated in the game?

Your score in RhymeRally is calculated using three components:

  • Base Score: 10 points × your current level for each correct word
  • Time Bonus: Up to 2× multiplier for answering quickly (the faster you answer, the higher the bonus)
  • Streak Bonus: +10% per consecutive correct answer (up to +50% for 5 in a row)

For example, at level 5, a correct answer might give you: 50 base points + 30 time bonus + 25 streak bonus = 105 points total!

What counts as a valid rhyme?

A valid rhyme shares the same vowel sound in the stressed syllable and all sounds following it. For example:

  • Perfect rhymes: day/way, light/sight, run/fun
  • Multi-syllable rhymes: faster/master, defender/contender

Words that don't rhyme include:

  • Different vowel sounds: good/food, love/move
  • Consonance only: hit/hat (similar consonants but different vowels)

Can I use the same rhyming word in different levels?

No- not in the same game. While you can't use the same word more than once within a gaming session, you can reuse rhyming words in another. This makes finding rhymes more challenging.

How do the poem challenges work?

Poem challenges appear every 5 levels. You'll be presented with a two-line poem where you need to find a word that rhymes with the last word of the first line to complete the poem. For example, if the first line ends with "sky," you might enter words like "high," "fly," or "try" to complete the poem.
