TRENDnet TPL-402E2K 500 MBps Powerline AV Kit Unveiled

TRENDnet today powered up (no pun intended) the Trendnet TPL-402E2K 500Mbps Powerline AV adapter kit with two adapters. Our experience with Powerline AV devices showed that the the actual speed never approached the advertised Mbps- for instance 200 MBps was more like 20 MBps at best. But if 500 Mbps by the TPL-402E2K can deliver a consistent 40 to 60 Mbs then it will be a very solid product indeed for purposes such as HD streaming from one room to another.

Some other nice features of the TPL-402E2K include up 70% less power usage when adapters are not in use, and the inclusion of a one-touch button to easily pair the adapters together. Pricing is set for a reasonable $180 and Trendnet offers a 3 year warranty on the product.
