Well sounds like u made the directory okay but didn't copy the files over. When you at D: you have to remember to CD into the win98 directory. e.g. cd D:win98 . Then do a copy *.* c:win98.
Windows 98se install help
CoolComputing Forum » Microsoft/Windows Software QuestionsThanks for the reply.
Did I do this right? I booted to Dos with a win98 start up disk. Typed MD c:win98, then typed d: copy *.* c:win98.
A folder was now found in windows explorer named Win98.
However when I installed a ethernet card I was still asked for the windows cd.
I directed the computer to search the new c:win98 folder and it did not work.
Do I now add something else to the win98 folder? ![]()
Yes- all you have to do is boot up into DOS with a DOS CDROM driver (the Windows 98 startup
disk will do). Make a directory called win98 on your C: directory (e.g. md
c:win9 8) , then go to the CDROM drive (e.g. D
, cd into the win98 directory,
and do a copy *.* c:win98 . Then go to c:win98 and run setup from
there.
When installing new hardware on computers sometimes I will be asked to install the
windows disk for more information. I have heard somewhere that you can make a folder
to place certain things in it from the windows disk so that you do not have to install
the original windows disk. Do you know how to do this or have an idea where I could go to
find out? It is just a hassle to go and find the windows disk just so that I can install
something. Thanks for any help. ![]()
